The students will learn the rules of castling their King on the King side of the board and the Queen side of the board.

Class experience

The students will learn the importance of castling their King for protection and how it makes their games stronger. They will learn that when playing chess against an opponent, that they will have to touch the King first, instead of the Rook to make this castling move.
Homework Offered
Students will receive chess puzzle homework sheets in a PDF format to be printed out. The chess puzzle homework sheets will be discussed in class to make sure all students understand what to do.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
A learner is assessed by understanding the answers on each chess puzzle assignment and knowing how to checkmate to win their games. When a student practices chess at home, with others, or on-line, their skills will increase--this will reflect in their knowledge of the game.
Grades Offered
 2 files available upon enrollment
Students should have a pencil in class and the chess puzzles printed out, which will be attached in a PDF form in the Classroom.

If students do not already have a username on lichess.org, a username will be assigned to the students by the teacher.
Lichess.org and ChessKid.com are great, safe resources to access daily Chess Puzzles, to play chess against the computer, or against other chess players around the world. There are videos on the ChessKid.com site that the students can watch, done by Grand Masters, who can really help the students achieve a higher skill level in chess.
