Beginner Level
Kids can cook at any age! Cooking and creating in the kitchen helps young learners build language skills, practice basic math and science concepts, as well as increase self-confidence! Creating in the kitchen also increases life skills such as direction following, kitchen safety, and problem solving.  

Join me as we make some delicious banana pudding together -  working step by step together. We will increase our fine motor skills as we pour, mix, scoop, and chop our ingredients to create our delicious dessert. An ingredient/supply list will be provided to learners at the beginning of class.

Lesson 1:
Let's Talk About Kitchen Safety!
 Let's go over some helpful tips and tricks for us to remember while we are in the kitchen. Then, please share a way that you are safe in the kitchen. 
Lesson 2:
It's Time To Make!
 Follow along, step by step, as we make our yummy and delicious banana pudding! 
Lesson 3:
Bonus Activity
 In this lesson, I challenge you to create (draw) your own special cookie!

Please be aware of possible allergens such as nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, or soy in any of the ingredients you purchase. If your learner has an allergy, please contact me to discuss possible substitutions.
Supply List
A detailed ingredient/supply sheet will be posted along with the instructional video.  

Ingredients: 
1 package instant banana pudding mix
milk
thawed whipped topping
vanilla wafer cookies or animal crackers
bananas 


Supplies:
mixing bowl
large bowl or storage container with lid
whisk and spoons
butter knife for chopping
bowl and spoon for learner to sample their dessert
 1 file available upon enrollment

Hello! My name is Mrs. Castilla (Mrs. C). I have always enjoyed academics, reading, and crafting and I believe teaching is a great way to combine all of my passions. I believe that active, engaged learning is very beneficial to children beginning at a young age. 

I have a B.A. degree as well as a special education teacher  license for grades K-12 . I have over 15 years experience teaching children in various educational settings including preschool in childcare centers, Prek-5 in public elementary schools, as well virtual education for elementary aged learners. I have taught special education (adaptive curriculum) in all subject areas and have been trained in sensory integration, alternate assessments, data collection, and project-based learning.
