Let's take a tour of Italy through cooking. In this 3 day camp, we will cook 3 different Italian inspired recipes to learn about the Italian culture and some of Italy's most famous dishes.

Class Experience

I encourage kids to have a hands-on learning experience with my cooking classes.  I would love for them to cook step by step with me so they gain the knowledge and experience while being able to taste their end product each and every class.  My teaching style is a positive reinforcement style, where I encourage questions and comments.  I complete each lesson with a wrap-up page, where we review the cooking terms we learned that day. My classes are made to be fun and engaging.  I will ask the children questions to ensure they are understanding the lesson and various skills of the day. They will gain confidence in the kitchen and learn life skills on how to stay safe in the kitchen while preparing delicious and fun dishes.

Learning Goals

In this 3 day camp, learners will cook 3 Italian recipes from start to finish. They will also learn some fun facts about Italy as well as the origins of the recipes they are cooking.  It will be a fun way to explore another country through cooking and fun facts.

Parental Guidance
Kids will learn safety around the stove and how to properly read and understand following a recipe while preparing a delicious meal that is guaranteed to impress. We will work on measurements, cooking terms, and why following directions while cooking is imperative.

Day 1- Turkey Bolognese and pasta
Day 2- French Bread Pizza and a Caprese Salad
Day 3- Homemade Meatballs with Garlic Bread

Day 1 ingredients
olive oil
1 medium onion
2 garlic cloves
coarse salt
freshly ground pepper
1 pound ground turkey (keep raw)
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 can (28 ounces) whole peeled plum tomatoes with juice
3 tbsp Italian seasoning
Skillet
StockPot
Linguine Pasta
Skillet
Knife
Cutting Board
Spatula

Day 2 Ingredients
French Bread Roll
Marinara Sauce
Mozzarella Cheese
Italian Seasoning
Toppings of your choice
Tomatoes 
Olive Oil
Fresh Mozzarella
Basil Leaves
Toaster Oven or Oven
Baking sheet
Plate
Knife
Spoon

Day 3 Ingredients
Cutting board, knife, measuring spoons, tongs, skillet, oven, plate
1 pound ground turkey
1 egg
1/4 cup milk 
3/4 cup Breadcrumbs
1 onion, chopped
4 garlic cloves
2 tbsp Italian Seasonings
1 tsp garlic powder
8 tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 cup Parm Cheese
Pinch of Salt and pepper
Jar of pasta sauce of your choice
french bread roll
1/2 cup butter

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been working as a kids enrichment teacher for the last 3 years.  I love teaching children and allowing them to create and think outside the box.  I have a 9-year-old son who is on the Autism Spectrum, so am a very patient and understanding teacher.  I realize all children learn differently and it is imperative to really listen to each child in order for them to feel secure and safe.
