Each week students will make a Halloween themed recipe outside of class time. Suggestions will be provided to the students; however, students can be as creative as they'd like.Class Experience
In this 4 week flexible schedule class, teen chefs will make and share Halloween themed recipes with the group. The purpose of this class is to allow students to practice their skills in the kitchen and showcase their recipes. Each week, the students will make a recipe that follows a specific theme (see list below). The students will show their creations and share their recipes with the class. It's an opportunity for teen chefs to be creative in the kitchen and share their ideas with others who enjoy cooking and baking, too. Let's get together and share our favorite Halloween recipes! The themes for each week include: Week 1: Halloween Punch/Drink Week 2: Halloween themed Appetizer Week 3: Halloween themed Lunch or Dinner Week 4: Halloween Dessert *Each week, the teacher will share a video outlining the weekly theme and giving ideas of recipes to try if they don't have their own "favorite" recipe to share. **This is a great opportunity to share ideas with others who share a love of cooking and/or baking. Students will be interacting with the teacher and other students via the Outschool classroom. Students are encouraged to post their creation and recipe to share with the group.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in English from West Virginia State University
Hello, my name is Amanda, and teaching brings me such joy. I have almost 15 years of experience teaching in a variety of positions: teacher, special ed co-teacher, academic coach, online teacher, and a homeschooling mom. I been homeschooling my own two sons, navigating their learning differences (autism, dyslexia, apraxia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia) and helping build their self-confidence. (I started homeschooling when my oldest was in 2nd grade, and he is now a senior in college. My youngest is now in high school.) I have experience with a variety of learners, including advanced students, students with learning differences, and English Language Learners (TESOL / TEFL certification). I strive to make classes fun for ALL learners!
I also love to cook! I show love to my family and friends by cooking and sharing a delicious homemade meal or a scrumptious dessert. (I owe my love of cooking & baking to my mom, who was a baker.) I invite your Home Chef to join me in my kitchen as we have fun cooking and baking delicious food that you can share as a family!
I believe that learning should always be fun. Students learn best when they enjoy what they are learning. I also want students to be comfortable coming to class, interacting, and asking questions. My goal is to build my students' confidence and independence --- a true belief in themselves. I look forward to meeting your child in my classroom.
