Class Experience
Whether you are preparing for an ESL/EFL exam, or just practicing your English Language skills, this class can accommodate you. This class is also suitable for native English speakers who also need tutoring in reading, writing and language skills. You choose which skill/s you/your learner needs to work on and let the teacher know. Please also advise the level you are working at, i.e. beginner, intermediate or advanced, so that the teacher can adjust your curriculum accordingly. I prefer to use whiteboards and flash cards, however if the topic requires them I will use slides. I prefer to be the "big" picture on camera so that the shape my mouth makes when pronouncing words and sounds is the focus with the written word equally on the screen rather than taking over the whole screen. The areas of skill and knowledge being taught and practiced in this class include but are not limited to: - Reading - Phonics - Comprehension - Read aloud - Prediction - Writing - Brainstorm - Mind map - Word storm - Summarise - Paraphrase - Letters and emails - Cloze passages - Vocabulary - Context - Meaning - Who, what, where, when, why, which, whose, whom - Sentence writing - Paragraph writing - Essay writing - Spelling - Varieties of English - Consonants and vowels - Consonant clusters - Homophones - Grammar - Punctuation - Nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs - Tenses - Signs - Active/passive - Questions - Listening - Dictation - Rephrase - Songs - Cloze listening - Tone/Attitude/Emotion - Inferring - Taking notes - Speaking - Telephone conversations - Singing - Tongue twisters - Mouth exercises specifically for the English language - Links and pauses - Emphasis - Pronunciation - Intonation - Syllables - Rhythm - Stress - Reductions - Repetition - Rhyme - Alliteration - Voiced or unvoiced - TH
