Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
n this class, the dancers will continue to perfect their Highland Fling technique, learn the basic movements and steps of the Sword Dance, and begin learning the Seann Triubhas.

This class is an interactive dance class, with a positive atmosphere. In addition, dancers will be taught corrections in highland dance, by learning basic theory and dance movements.

This class begins with a weekly check in, and quick lesson on Scottish Dance history. We also may watch videos of top Highland dancers, and discuss their dance technique, carriage, and what makes them good dancers.
Then there is a warm up, and new steps are slowly introduced.
Next, we have class, where we perfect our highland dance steps, with focus on stamina building, strength, and endurance. Highland dance is an athletic dance form, so stamina, strength and endurance are key to dancing it well.
Lastly we have a cool down, and stretch.

Learners must already know how to dance the Highland Fling, or have had extensive training in another dance form. Class Admittance is determined by the teacher.
