Welcome World Explorers!

This 8-week semester course, learners will study of the continents of the world. exploring their physical characteristics, ecological importance, and the impact of human activities on these vast bodies of water. Topics that will be covered include the physical features (landforms and major water bodies) of the continents, climatic zones, countries and major cities and more (please refer to the syllabus below.

Lessons will involve a slideshow presentation (including multimedia content) incorporated with questions and opportunities for students to ask questions and express their opinions respectfully. I strive to cater to different learning styles so that students connect with the material through visual aids and practical applications.
Learning Goals
1. Students will be able to accurately identify and label all seven continents on a world map, including key physical features such as major mountain ranges, rivers, and landmarks.
2.  Students will learn about the major environmental issues and unique ecosystems of each continent, including specific features like rainforests, deserts, and polar regions.

Parental Guidance
This class uses nearpod, blooket and gimkit. These are interactive and gamified learning platforms that enables students to review class material by answering questions in a quiz-style format. Students do not need an account or additional device to play the game. I will send a direct link to the game where the student clicks and joins the game directly. The class also utilizes google earth (via screen share) for an interactive exploration of some of the places we learn about. Please note that some video content is from Youtube (learners will watch no more than 4 minutes). Content is age appropriate and will be screen shared. Learners will not go onto any external websites during class. I also optional materials to help students dive deeper into the subject. They may include worksheets, YouTube videos, and review games.
