Connecting Comprehension: Morphology + Vocabulary

In this weekly class, learners will define prefixes/suffixes/base words to construct 20+ new vocabulary words every week. Analyzing multi-syllable words and building sentences for understanding.

1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. Learners will finish word matrix(if not finished in class) Learners will read morphology passage to an adult and complete comprehension questions.

This class is for them! 

This class will enhance their reading skills and comprehension by helping them dig into multi-syllable words by defining prefixes,  suffixes, Latin Roots and Greek forms. Constructing multi-syllable words and their meanings and building sentences to show understanding. 

Learning word parts, their meanings, in turn, learning their vocabulary, significantly increases their comprehension as they start to move on to complex texts in middle school!

If your learner completes a year of this class, they will learn over 1,000 NEW words and their meanings!!

Real world application: how and when can I use these words? In what subjects?

Learning Needs
This class is inclusive to diverse learning needs(ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia, ASD). We love to be an encouraging environment and lift each other up!
Pre-Requisites
Students should be able to read on their own. This class will enhance their reading skills and comprehension by helping them construct/deconstruct/define multi-syllable words.

Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Nebraska at Omaha
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. Trained in Orton-Gillingham and Speech to Print Linguistic Phonics. For the last 20 years, I have enjoyed teaching children Pre-K to 8th grade in the classroom, at home and as an online tutor.
