They will get a vocabulary list that goes over everything they have studiedAssessment
I do not routinely give an assessment at the end of the class. However, if a student or parent would like an assessment, they may request one by emailing me.Class Experience
With a little bit of experimenting, I have combined two learning methods into one, both to help the learner succeed and master the Japanese language and understand the Japanese culture. This class is designed to help the student become fluent in Japanese and to understand the culture behind not only the language but also the people. I will first put the student into a situation and then give them sentences to respond to those situations. The sentences will then be broken down into vocabulary and grammar. Each lesson will focus on one or two grammar points with more situations as examples. In this lesson, they will also learn the first five letters of the Japanese alphabet. In this lesson, students will be able to Week 1: 1. Learn about na-adjectives (the ending na disappears when you have desu in there) 2. Learn how to ask questions using na-adjectvies 3. Learn how to say something is not using na-adjectives Week 2: 1. Review Na-adjectives -Learn about na-adjectives (the ending na disappears when you have desu in there) -Learn how to ask questions using na-adjectvies. -Learn how to say something is not using na-adjectives 2. Review I-adjectives - The i adjective stays the same and nothing changes -only changes when there is a negative -Review how to say something is not using i-adjectives 3. Play a PowerPoint who wants to be a millionaire game reviewing all of the hiragana classes. Week 3: 1. We have learned the positive form of na-adjective and i-adjectives, now we will learn the negative form of na and i adjectives. 2. Learn how to combine na and i adjectives with the negative form. 3. We have learned all hiragana and even played a review game. We will not practice reading signs in Hiragana. Week 4: 1. Learn about how to ask questions in Japanese (put ka in the sentences) 2. Learn how to make an exclamation point (put yo in the sentences) 3. Learn how to seak confirmation (put yo in the sentence) 4.Learn the first five letters of Katakana (ア、イ、ウ、エ、オ). Week 5: 1. Learn about how to get a taxi 2. Learn how to say where you are going 3. Learn how to ask what time it is 4. Learn the next five words of Katakana (カ、キ、ク、ケ、コ) You will get all three in one-course culture, language and the writing, probably something other classes do not delve into. You will enjoy the powerpoint slides and optional homework. We will study in an upbeat intereactive way, something you do not want to miss. There is a pre-requisite. They will need to have taken class 1-4 or at least studied the material on their own.
