With a little bit of experimenting, I have combined two learning methods into one, both to help the learner succeed and master the Japanese language and understand the Japanese culture. This class is designed to help the student become fluent in Japanese and to understand the culture behind not only the language but also the people. In this lesson, students will be able to: Week 1: 1. Review how to ask how much something is. 2. Learn how to count from 1,000-99,999 3. Learn about the Japanese tax system 4. Learn about わ、を、ん Week 2: 1. Learn how to ask if someone forgot something 2. Learn how to say it is not your object 3. Learn how to ask whose object something is 4. Learn how to say it is your object. 5. Review all 46 Hiragana you have learned for the past 21 lessons Week 3: 1. Learn about this, that (this near you, near the other person) 2. learn how to connect two nouns together (Italian umbrella, American house) 3. Learn how to ask where something is from. 4. Learn about and how to make the long vowel sounds in Japanese using あ、い、う、え、お Week 4: 1. Review the material that we have learned -Positive and Negative forms of verbs (it is mine house, it is not my house) -Review Yes and No questions/answers -Review Question words (What, How much, Who, Whose, Where and Where is it from) -Learn about tradition sounds (double お and singe づ and ぢ) Week 5: 1. Learn about i-adjectives (adjectives that end in i and learn the positive and negative forms) 2. Learn about Na-adjectives (adjectives that do not end in i adjectives and learn the positive and negative forms 3. Learn how to make questions with these adjectives when you put "ka" at the end. 4. Learn about the different particles markers for Hiragana (noun markers, direct object markers, markers for going places)
I received my undergraduate degree in the Japanese language, culture, and history. I also earned my Master's degree in K-12 education. I studied abroad at Nihon University in Tokyo as well as worked as an English teacher in Niigata, Japan. I was able to see what I learned firsthand
Homework Offered
Students will be given worksheets to print out after the class to reinforce their learning. Because this class meets once, this is optional and they have the choice to send their homework to me to look over. They will get a vocabulary list that goes over everything they have studied0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
