In this class, students will learn how to compose an essay. Participants will be introduced to the organizational structure of an essay, as well as  topic sentences, supporting details that directly relate to the topic sentence, and smooth transition words and phrases. 

Students will learn how to:

⭐️ Create a powerful introduction that immediately captures the reader's attention and includes a thesis.

⭐️ Construct a paragraph that has 
1. One controlling idea
2. Sentences clearly related to topic sentence
3. Logical order
4. Thoroughly developed examples/evidence
5. Closing sentence

⭐️ Write an effective conclusion that does not just summarize the information in the essay.

 In this lesson, learners will become familiar with the definition and parts of an essay. 
Lesson 2:
Prewriting Strategies
 In this lesson, learners will review important prewriting strategies useful in generating ideas for writing prompts.

Drafting a Composition
 In this lesson, learners will review the elements needed to successfully write an engaging introduction, well-developed body paragraphs and an impactful conclusion.

Revising and Editing
 In this lesson, learners will review revising and editing techniques useful in getting rough drafts ready for submission.
