Common Ground- An LGBTQ+ Art Club

In this ongoing class, we will work on a new art project every other week. The in-between weeks will be dedicated to your independent art. We will also discuss LGBTQ+ historical and contemporary artists.

Class Experience

This is a social group for anyone to come, make art, and just be themselves.

Each week, we will gather to make art. One week will be independent work, the other week will be a curated project taught by me.
For our bi-weekly project weeks, I will introduce some historical and contemporary LGBTQ+ artists and their work. Do you know a specific artist and want to share their work and story? I'd love to hear about them.

Some projects will include:
-Creating a collage portrait using strips of paper/magazines and colored pencils.
-Drawing challenge: creating a piece of work from a one-word prompt
-Making a piece of art using only nature
**I also encourage members to contribute ideas for our bi-weekly projects.

I will post the supply list on the classroom wall for our project weeks. That will ensure you are prepared.

*It is not mandatory to join in with the bi-weekly art project. Just be sure to bring along your art to work on.

Week-By-Week Breakdown:

Wednesdays:
(6/12/24): New Project Reveal
(6/19/24): Independent Work
(6/26/24): New Project Reveal
(7/10/24): Independent Work

We will have all sorts of members from all over the world. Let's see what types of art everyone is interested in, what types of hobbies, favorite books. This class is a great opportunity to reach beyond our homes and get to know others.

**I take safety, respect, and kindness VERY seriously. If I feel that someone within the group is in violation of this, or being inappropriate, I have the right to ask them to leave. I do not stand for bullying. This is, and will continue to be a safe place for all.
