Students will learn what pop art, collage, and onomatopoeia are, and will be introduced to the artist Roy Lichtenstein. Then students will brainstorm example words that could be used in their artwork. Once each student has chosen a word to use, they will learn how to create block letters. Letters and paper shapes will then be designed and cut out to create the collage.
Learning Goals
Students will learn or review the vocabulary words collage, pattern, composition, exclamation, and onomatopoeia. Students will be introduced to pop art and the artist Roy Lichtenstein. Students will practice skills of hand lettering, composition layout, and artistic decision making.

Pictures of Roy Lichtenstein's work may include some mild violence.

Students will need: White Paper Pencil Eraser Markers(preferred), crayons, or colored pencils Black Sharpie (if available) Colored paper and/or newspaper Scissors Glue

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

The two things I love most in life is art and teaching! I have a degree in art education and have lots of experience working with young students. I think that basic understanding of art techniques and theories are important things that students should learn to not only further their art skills but also to see the beauty in the world around them!
