Drawing and coloring are a natural part of a child's daily routine. These activities help children to express themselves, explore artistic media, and develop eye-hand coordination. So if your child is already coloring, why not slip in a little education on the side? In this ongoing live class, we will open each session with a quick look at two famous works of art. We will vote on the artwork for the day and then I will speak briefly about what is special about the artist and the painting. We will talk about the colors, shapes, and lines in the artwork and how it makes us feel. Then we'll each use this discussion to inspire a drawing, which we will then show off at the end of class. This class involves art history and art appreciation. It *does not* involve art instruction. The class is built on the idea that young children learn art best through experimentation and discovery. The paintings we look at will change each session, so each class is a new experience.
