The color wheel!
Let’s make a color wheel and learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colors!
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Making new colors!
Let’s learn how you can make new colors by mixing primary colors!
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Warm and cool colors!
How do we know if a color is cool or warm? How do we see this in the world? Let’s make a warm or cool art piece!
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Complementary Colors and Contrast
What are complimentary colors? How can we create contrast with color? Let’s find out!
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Like colors- colors tones within the same family!
Let’s explore color families and different tones of the same color!
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Colors of nature and seasons!
Let’s explore how we see color in nature and the seasons! This will combine many of the topics we covered in previous weeks!
This class is taught in English.

  • Famous and indie art pieces that use colors in interesting ways.

Basic Art Supplies:

Sketchbook or Drawing Paper, Watercolor paper if you have some!: 8.5x11 inches or larger.

Pencils and Eraser

Colored Pencils or Crayons: A set that includes a range of primary and secondary colors.

Watercolor Paints: A basic set of watercolor paints.

Paintbrushes: Various sizes, including small, medium, and large brushes.

Palette: For mixing colors (a simple plastic or ceramic plate will work).

Plastic Cups with water : For rinsing brushes.

Bowl or large circular item for tracing circle. 

Paper Towels or Cloth: For drying brushes.

Additional Supplies:

Transparent Colored Cellophane Sheets: Red, blue, and yellow (for light mixing experiments). (*optional. Instructor will have one for visual!)


Small Ruler: For drawing and measuring.

Natural Materials (Optional): Leaves, flowers, or other natural items for Week 6’s nature-inspired art.

These supplies will ensure that students are fully equipped to participate in all the hands-on activities and explore the wonderful world of color theory through art!





Your child may need to be supervised as we will be using art materials in this class! You can adjust the supplies to fit your needs. 
We may refer to age appropriate art pieces (mostly abstract and still life)
