π¨π΄ In this one-time class, students will learn step-by-step how to make Colombian arepas. π¨π΄ Arepas are a daily staple in Colombia and throughout various countries in South America. Eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these arepas steal the show in Colombian cooking! In each region of Colombia, they prepare the arepa differently. We will be learning the standard arepa that is common in Bogota, the capital. This arepa is made with cornflour & a healthy amount of cheese.π½π§ It is often enjoyed with a coffee or a nice cup of chocolate caliente (hot chocolate). βοΈ Come learn how to make delicious arepas while having fun & learning about Colombian culture! Parental Guidance
Safety is a top priority so be aware that in this class the use of a hot stove is required. Please be close by and monitoring your child while we are in the kitchen in case they need assistance and to ensure they are following directions safely.
Allergy warning: the recipe we are making contains dairy. Feel free to substitute with dairy free cheese and butter if needed.

Students need to have some basic experience in the kitchen, including measuring ingredients and using the stove.

Please have ready for the class: -P.A.N. Pre-Cooked Cornflour (Can be found at your local Hispanic grocery store or online) -Cheese (queso fresco, mozzarella) -Butter -Water -Salt -Mixing bowl -Measuring cups -Spatula -Rolling pin/or a flat bottomed bowl/plate to press the arepas -Spoon for mixing -Skillet -Excitement to learn & cook!
