This is a self-paced version of my College Prep and Study Skills live class. As students transition from high school classes to university level classes, there are several key skills they need to develop to succeed and thrive in the independence of their new environment. This class will cover skills necessary for classroom success. In class, we will discuss strategies for studying and notetaking, as well as practice those skills. Additional practice exercises will be provided for students to hone their skills after class. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and get guided support for their individual goals and plans. As a flexible schedule course, this course will offer no live class meetings. Instead, your student will have access to a class recording weekly to watch, as well as additional written documents to augment the recording. Each week, students are expected to respond to a discussion question on the message board, as well as to respond to at least 2 other student's responses. We will create a healthy group discussion through messages to engage with the contents of the recordings. The student will also have various interactive assignments to check their understanding of the video content. This course will involve group brainstorming projects to be completed interactively, as well as a peer review process to ensure maximum interaction during the class, creating a workshop feel during the 4 weeks. I will be available for office hours and meetings throughout the course by appointment according to your time zone. Week 1-Notetaking from lectures and reading Week 2-Following a syllabus and tracking assignments Week 3-Study skills for tests Week 4-Following course guides, choosing classes, understanding credits
