US Grade 9 - 12
In this one-on-one course, your student will learn college-level writing skills in three ways: 1. I will provide feedback on your student's current essays. 2. I will teach your student about the essay writing process (more details below). 3. I will teach your student about specific steps in the writing process based on student or parent requests. Class Structure: 1. If your student sends an essay prompt or an essay draft at least one day before class, I will review it offline and then provide feedback in the classroom session. 2. After providing feedback, I will proceed with a lesson on the writing process. Overview of the Writing Process: 1. Clarify the assignment. 2. Use research tools to identify sources. 3. Analyze sources. 4. Develop a thesis. 5. Create an outline. 6. Write a first draft. 7. Revise the draft. 8. Review formatting and citations.
Learning Goals
