Join "College Applications With the Common App: Writing the Personal Statement Essay" to transform your college application essay into a compelling narrative that reflects your true self. Over the course of four weeks, we will explore different aspects of essay writing, from brainstorming and outlining to drafting and revising. Designed for high school juniors and seniors, this course is perfect for students looking to enhance their writing skills and produce a memorable essay that will capture the attention of college admissions committees. What Will Be Taught? Every class is a step-by-step journey through the essential components of writing a standout Common App essay. We will cover: • Finding your unique story and voice • Effective brainstorming and outlining techniques • Writing powerful introductions and conclusions • Developing clear and cohesive body paragraphs • Refining your essay through revision and editing • Understanding what admissions officers look for in an essay Class Structure: This class is designed to be both educational and engaging. We will meet for two intensive sessions, with each session lasting 120 minutes. Classes will include: • Interactive workshops where students can brainstorm and develop their essay ideas • Group discussions to share feedback and insights • Writing exercises to practice key skills • Peer review sessions to refine drafts Between sessions, students will be expected to write and revise their essays based on the concepts and feedback provided in class.
