Class Experience

Lesson is aimed for pre-readers who have experience with Scratch Jr.  Students with no experience will need adult support.  Students will work on the basics of programming, problem solving and critical thinking skills with Scratch Jr. 

Teacher will model step by step. 

Students will work on the following skills: 

- add sprites (characters) to multiple pages
- create and modify a sprite 
- modify backgrounds 
- use code to move sprites
- use hide command
- add voice to sprites

Students will need to download the app: Scratch Jr. before class.  It is beneficial to join class using a different device so students can see teacher's screen.

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
