Beginner Level
Lesson is aimed for students new to Scratch. Students will learn the basics of programming, problem solving and critical thinking skills using Scratch. Students will learn the following in a series of classes: - code one or more sprites - change the look and size of a sprite - use one or more backdrops - upload backdrops - create your own sprite and/or backdrop - add speech bubbles to sprite - add/record sound - use repeat/forever/if - then controls - hide and show sprites - use simple variables Students will follow along with teacher as we create a new project every day. Schedule: Week #1 - Animate Your Name Week #2 - Short Story Week #3 - Soccer Game Week #4 - Drawing Shapes Students will need a device for coding. We will use Scratch for coding. It is beneficial to connect to class using a different device in order to view teacher's screen while coding.

I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
