Class Experience

This class is a combination of my Level 1 and Level 2 C++ classes, but squeezed into one, 2-hour session. Your child will learn a significant amount of C++, at a much faster pace. This class will teach your child all of what he/she would learn in my Level 1 course, as well as most of my Level 2 course. Your child will leave this classing knowing and understanding how to:

- Declare the integer main function for a C++ program
- Preprocessor directives
- Data types, reserved words, identifiers
- Declare and initialize named constants and other variables
- How to code statements and expressions with output and input statements
- Arithmetic operators
- Escape sequences
- Incrementing and decrementing operators
- Using manipulators to format output
- Escape sequences
- Combined operators
- Using the IF/ELSE, and ELSE/IF statements.
- Repetition and looping with the FOR loop, WHILE loop, and DO/WHILE loops.
- Use of functions
- Use of pointers and references

Again, this is a fast paced class and dives into some advanced C++ coding. This may be difficult for some students.

Learning Goals

Your child will learn the basics of C++, and some C++ advanced coding, such as repetition and looping, functions, pointers, and references.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This class does require that you download and install, for free, Visual Studio 2022 Community edition. No account is required for the use of this software. Your child will receive a short brief on how to utilize the software. It is very user-friendly.
Supply List
Students will need a Windows-based PC, and the ability to download and install programs that are required for the C++ development environment. A user account with administrative rights is needed. No Mac/Apple users unfortunately unless you want to use an online compiler.

It's not a requirement but it would be highly beneficial to have either a dual monitor configuration, or a secondary device, such as an iPad, laptop, etc to run zoom on while working on code on a completely separate machine.
