2. Students will be able to use the fill and set commands to place blocks into the world using Python.
3. Students will be able to describe block positions using x, y, and z coordinates and calculate relative positions.

Ms. Emily has taught middle and high school math and computer science. She holds a bachelor's degree in Math and Computer Science from Columbia University, is a Minecraft Certified Teacher, and is licensed as an alternative teacher by the Colorado State Department of Education.
Homework Offered
Before class, students should be familiar with Minecraft basics on a computer, including: 1. Moving using the W, A, S, D and space keys 2. Using left and right click to place and mine blocks Alongside the supplied Minecraft: Education Edition login, students will receive directions for accessing a tutorial if they are new to Minecraft.
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Students will use Minecraft Education Edition, for which a licensed login will be supplied ahead of time (no additional purchase is required).
Students must use a Mac or Windows computer with a keyboard (not a phone or tablet). Minecraft Education Edition can be downloaded here: https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download

Please note that students cannot use other versions of Minecraft for this class, as we will not be able to join a world together and the code editor is unique to Minecraft: Education Edition.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
We will use Minecraft: Education Edition, a specially licensed version of Minecraft designed for schools and other educational settings. An account is required and instructions for setup will be sent to you ahead of time. Access to Minecraft: Education Edition is provided at no additional cost for the duration of the class.

We will use Minecraft: Education Edition to join a collaborative virtual Minecraft world and use the code editor to write Python code that builds student-designed projects in that Minecraft world.

The Education Edition of Minecraft does not have its own ESRB rating, but Minecraft is rated E10+ with a Content Descriptor for Fantasy Violence. We will be using creative mode, and while students are welcome to spawn mobs that relate to their builds, that is not the focus of the class.

More information about Minecraft: Education Edition is available here
https://education.minecraft.net/wp-content/uploads/Minecraft-Education-Edition-Parents-Guide-1.pdf
We will reference the official Minecraft: Education Edition Python reference (available in-game and on a website) as well as the DigMinecraft website to locate specific block ids.
Not an official Minecraft product. Not approved or associated with Mojang.
