Class Experience

Students love coding because it's fun and challenging. With practice, students will further develop their logic ability and creativity. In this ongoing class, students will learn the basics of coding. No previous experience required. We will build a strong foundation in coding, so if the student desires to learn more advanced coding, they will be ready. Our class will be using code.org and Scratch.

The structure of this class is very interactive. I will start by introducing a coding concept. Then students will have time to practice. If a student gets stuck, I will steer them in the right direction by providing problem solving strategies.

Depending on the week's challenge, here are some of the topics we may cover:sequencing, loops, events, and conditionals.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi and welcome! My name is Mr. Fang and I teach science and coding. Some of these courses will be at an introductory level, while other courses will be at an advanced level.

I have 20 years of teaching experience in the classroom and online. I love working with students and inspiring them to reach their potential. In 2019, I mentored a group of students and we were selected National Finalists for Samsung's Solve for Tomorrow stem competition.

Learning science or coding can be an intimidating task. So what I do is break down difficult topics into smaller chunks thereby giving students the confidence they need to be successful. Small class sizes in Outschool is ideal because it gives me time to answer student questions and give them timely feedback.

My teaching philosophy is to make learning fun and interesting. I want my students to develop a joy of learning, so that they become life long learners.

I am also a homeschooling dad who loves showing his kids cool science demos and answering their ā€œtoughā€ science questions.

Feel free to message me with any questions or suggest classes that aren't already offered.

If you're interested in a class, but the times don't work for you, please message me.
