This is an ongoing class designed for students ages 7 - 12 who have completed my 2 introductory classes (Intro to Coding and Game Development and Coding and Game Development Part 2). Each week will consist of a live, one-hour lesson, where we will solve a coding “puzzle” problem, learn a new concept, work on a game or project, or take time to ask and answer questions. Because this class is designed for students who already have a good understanding of the fundamentals, learners can enroll...
- Practice problem-solving skills through weekly coding puzzles - Practice reading more complicated pieces of code through guided projects and games - Encourage students to continue working on personal coding projects - Create a safe, encouraging space where students can interact with other learners who are interested in coding and building their own projects - Provide an environment where students can ask questions about coding and get helpful, thoughtful answers.
I will not assign any official "homework", but I will encourage students to continue working on a personal project and offer suggestions for what they might add next.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
To make setup as easy as possible, we will use Codepen for writing and running code. If you'd prefer to use another online coding environment, feel free to reach out and I'll try to find a way to make that work.
