Class Experience

During this class students will be introduced to 5 creative ways to conclude a piece of writing.
1. A Feeling sentence
2. A Lesson Learned sentence
3. An Advice sentence
4. A Question sentence
5. A Cliffhanger sentence
Lecture and discussion with teacher driven examples will begin this class. Students will see how any of these types of sentences can be used for the same piece of writing. It will also be addressed that while any of the 5 CAN be used, in some cases there are certain ones that don’t work well. As the hour concludes students will be encouraged to come up with their own clever conclusions.

Teaching children to be confident writers with the tools they need to be successful is a vital part of developing successful writers. Using these “clever conclusions” as well as other tools have taken the fear out of writing for my children. I no longer have reluctant writers because they have the tools in the toolbox to tackle the assignments.
