Classics are those books that readers love, share, and always remember. These books compel thinking, relating, and great discussions! Studies have shown that it’s not only the books we read but also the act of thinking rigorously about them that’s of value, exercising the brain in critical ways. In this book club, learners will connect with and discuss exciting characters, settings and ideas. I strive to create a safe and relaxed space for my learners. Mistakes are how we learn and grow. I adore literature and feel it is invaluable for learners to gain knowledge, feel understood, find new perspectives, and sometimes escape. These books teach readers that they are not alone through the universal themes of family, friendship, loyalty, and empathy. The classics enchant our imagination, exercise our minds, and enlighten our souls. In each meeting, learners will discuss the chapters assigned for class. Learners will examine the literary elements, including plot, characters, setting, point of view, and vocabulary, to understand the book better. We will spend two weeks to a month on each book. I will provide optional culminating activities in the classroom. Learners may also play a fun interactive Kahoot! to check for text comprehension. If you don't see a book club that fits your schedule, please send me a request, and I will do my best to schedule a meeting that will work for your learner! 7 am EST August 21 - Sept. 18 A Night Divided by Jennifer Neilson Week 1- chapters 1-11 Week 2- chapters 12- 22 Week 3-chapters 23-33 Week 4- chapters 34-4 Sept. 25- Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin October 29- - The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Bradley 7 pm EST Wednesdays Week August 21 - A Night Divided by Jennifer Neilson Week 1- chapters 1-11 Week 2- chapters 12- 22 Week 3-chapters 23-33 Week 4- chapters 34-47 Week of Sept. 26- Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin Week of October 29- - The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Bradley

As a licensed teacher specializing in Reading, I have had the opportunity to support and engage students with diverse learning needs. My experience has enabled me to develop a strong understanding of different instructional strategies to ensure that all students have the skills necessary for academic success. I am passionate about creating a positive classroom environment that is both supportive and engaging, where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and participating in discussions. With my expertise in Reading instruction, I strive to help each student develop a lifelong love for reading while achieving academic goals.
My passion is literature. I believe stories make concepts more palpable to children. Stories can teach readers valuable lessons, make them laugh, and see things from a different perspective, or take them somewhere new!
When I have time, I like to travel, experience different cultures, and learn the history of people and places. I am also an animal lover! I have two dogs, have worked with animal rescues, and fostered cats and dogs for years.
If you are interested in a class and don't see a time that meets your needs, please send me with your time request. I look forward to meeting your learner in class!
