Improvisational theater, commonly known as improv, is a dynamic technique employed by actors and comedians to craft spontaneous and unforgettable scenes in real-time. Improv helps build a number of skills: Enhance Communication: Through on-the-spot thinking, attentive listening, and instant responding, improv hones communication prowess. This translates to heightened skills in diverse contexts, from casual conversations to public presentations. Boost Creativity: Improv provides a stage for young minds to navigate their imaginative faculties, bringing forth original concepts and viewpoints. Cultivate Confidence: The affirming and non-critical ambiance of improv can bolster self-assurance, making children feel empowered both inside and outside the theater. Improv isn't just entertaining; it's an enriching pursuit that equips participants with a distinctive skill set beneficial in numerous life scenarios. In this compact session, students will receive guidance from a graduate of the esteemed conservatory program at the renowned Second City Theater. This institution boasts an impressive alumni list, featuring luminaries like Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Mike Meyers. Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach classes related to comedy and humor including sketch comedy, improv, and satire writing.
I'm an improvisor, comedian, and writer who has written professionally for web series, comic strips, and satirical publications like McSweeney's. I've been fortunate to graduate from the Second City's renowned Conservatory Program. - with leading comedy actors and writers including Kevin McDonald of TV's The Kids in the Hall and the movie Lilo & Stitch.
I believe that comedy has the ability to improve skills like interpersonal communication and writing as well as boost students' confidence. Whether a learner is the "class clown" or someone who is a bit more quiet, I aim to create a learning environment where they can have fun, gain confidence and learn new skills.
I have a bachelor of arts degree and a master's degree in business.
