We will begin class by sharing our preferred name, preferred pronoun, and an interesting fact about us, just to set a friendly, safe environment. Topics will include: What all of these terms mean The differences between each term and how the terms can intersect The differences between gender identity and sexual orientation We will use PowerPoint to look at definitions, the flag of different gender identities. The teacher is queer and non-binary, and spent time in college in the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, took part in the GSA in high school, and has spent time counseling LGBTQ+ people through the website 7 Cups. They have done research projects in college on the experience of LGBTQ+ people, including interviewing other LGTBQ+ people.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class will deal with gender identities and sexual orientation. There is a possibility that sensitive topics may be brought up, such as bullying, self-harm, etc.
