40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
We will begin class by sharing our preferred name, preferred pronoun, and an interesting fact about us, just to set a friendly, safe environment. Topics will include: What all of these terms mean The differences between each term and how the terms can intersect The differences between gender identity and sexual orientation We will use PowerPoint to look at definitions, the flag of different gender identities. Then, we will have a discussion to share what we learned, and ask new questions! I always leave a space of time toward the end to ensure my students have all of their questions answered. **If students indicate signs of distress or that they undergoing bullying, thoughts of harm, etc, I will provide numerous resources for them to anonymously seek help. I will provide my own experiences with homophobia, self-identity issues, and how I helped myself overcome them to show my students that they are not alone.**
