Beginner Level
In this 2x a week ongoing course, we will gather together for learning and social fun! We will sing songs, begin an introduction to letters of the alphabet, and learn math concepts such as shapes, colors, and identifying numbers 0-20. Students will also listen to stories and practice early reading comprehension skills. At times, I will use a book that covers a science or social studies topic to incorporate non-fiction information. I have over 20 years of experience teaching literacy and math skills in the elementary school. I have a Master's in Reading and have taken many professional development courses to continue my craft in providing effective instruction that helps students achieve goals and become successful learners. More than anything, I am just a person who cares and wants children to feel successful and accomplished.
Homework Offered
Students are encouraged to review skills learned in class. I will often send handouts through the classroom tab that students can use for practice and enjoyment at home, but they will not be required to be turned in as homework.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessment will take place throughout the lesson and parents will receive progress updates often in regard to how the student is growing in the class.Grades Offered
Sometimes, I may ask students to bring playdough or other materials like cereal, marshamallows, etc. to increase student engagement while learning skills.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
