There is an expectation that learners will be able to talk about the sets they have constructed and how they relate to the movie assigned. Description of Class Experience: Introduction to the Era (~15 minutes) At the start of each session, we'll immerse ourselves in the cinematic world of the era we're focusing on. Expect a brief yet comprehensive introduction of the decade, outlining key milestones, influential films, pivotal directors, mainstream genres, and cultural impacts that defined the time. Group Discussion (~15 minutes) Here we'll spark a lively conversation revolving around the movie assigned the previous week. This will be your opportunity to share insights, discuss thematic elements, and delve into your interpretations of storytelling, characters, and narrative techniques. Showcase and Shine! (~15 minutes) It's time to show off your Sims 4 creations! Every student will get a chance to present the scene they've recreated from the movie in the era we covered the week previously. We'll provide a supportive and engaging environment where creativity is celebrated, offering constructive feedback along the way. Preview of the Next Era (~15 minutes) As we conclude each class, we'll preview the upcoming era, highlighting what to expect in terms of cinematic evolution. We'll discuss significant technological advancements, social context, and industry shifts. Plus, you'll get your next film assignment to watch and recreate in The Sims 4, keeping you prepped and pumped for another exciting week! Note for Students: Be ready for fun hands-on activities and engaging dialogues. We prioritize participation and encourage you to put your unique spin on the Sims 4 recreations! 10 Lessons
over 10 WeeksLesson 1:
Introduction to Cinema
We will go over what the class structure will be like and I will provide a short lecture introduction to the beginnings of cinema. We will go over any questions about what is expected from our Sims 4 set construction and I will demonstrate this in the class.
Our film to watch this week will be from the silent era (1880s – 1920s) and the film will be Buster Keaton's -Safety First (1920) Silent film.

The Talkies!
We will watch each other's set designs from the Silent Era and move on into the Talkies, where we’ll discuss its development. This will also cover 1927, the Jazz Singer.

Lesson 3:
The Golden Age of Hollywood
We will begin by sharing our set designs from the previous week. Then we’ll move into the rise of Hollywood, and the Big Studio Productions of the 1920's to the 1940's. Focusing primarily on the invention of color in cinema, but also some notorious film studios.
