Chronicles of Antiquity: Examining the History of Ancient Civilizations
Class experience
US Grade 5 - 8
In this class, we cover the entire history of ancient civilizations, through very interactive lectures. We use Power Point presentations with an abundance of examples, while also integrating an interdisciplinary approach that includes art history, the examination of historical artifacts, documents, as well as virtual visits to museums and historical places. Topics will not build upon each other and learners can join at any time. As we created the curriculum for this class, we made sure that...
Our teachers are professional certified on their subject areas and are experienced k-12 educators. Our History teachers, in particular, have taught all grade levels and are experts on the topics we cover in our programs.
All historical topics are being informed by multiple perspectives on indigenous cultures. We avoid showing the view of the colonizer as the dominant point of view and do not present graphic violence of any sort, specially with images. Despite being a class for very young learners, this course fosters diversity and historical truth, and does not rest on simplified versions of historical events. We have used the Holt Mcdougal History Textbooks as our main source to create this curriculum as well as primary sources like letters, personal diaries, and other historical documents.
We use the Holt Mcdougal History program and follow the CPALMS standards for academic subjects: https://www.cpalms.org/public/search/Standard
