I love making holiday treats for my family and friends at Christmas!

In this class, students will make chocolate covered pretzels and decorate them so that they can give them to friends, family, and neighbors as gifts.

While students are working on their pretzels, we will play a trivia game using commonly known Christmas movies and songs. The questions will be general, nothing too difficult. The following are examples of movies that may be included in the trivia: Frozen, Home Alone, The Grinch, The Polar Express, Elf, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause.

My hope is that this class will help your child feel excited for holidays and prepared to give a gift to someone that they love.

Note: Please contact me to chat about making this class into a private birthday party, Boy/Girl Scout meeting, American Heritage Girl badgework, or another private event.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Students may need help to find a proper microwave safe mug for melting their chocolate. Students may also need help using the microwave when melting chocolate.
Supply List
A tall mug (we will melt the chocolate in the microwave if the mug is taller, more of the pretzel rod can be covered in chocolate)
Spoon
Parchment paper, pan or plate that students can use to place their pretzels after they decorate them
Long sized pretzel rods
6oz (half of a bag) chocolate chips (more if student wants to decorate more pretzels)
Holiday themed sprinkles. Colored sugars don’t tend to look as bold on the melted chocolate, but you can choose what works for you. I prefer the kind in shakers so that students do not spill or waste sprinkles when using them.

Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.

Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.

I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
