It's the season of scream! With Halloween & Day of the Dead approaching, let's draw a not so kawaii girl. We'll use the anime style of "chibi" to draw two (2) characters weekly. If you want, you may wear your own Scary Girl costume to draw.

Class Experience

Let's celebrate autumn season by drawing scary chibi girls. Chibi drawing is a very basic anime style of drawing. Anime is the widely popular Japanese style of cartoon. We will draw familiar characters of stories, Halloween costumes and Day of the Dead celebrations.
This class will focus of students being creative to draw an image they are happy with. As teacher, I will guide students and give their opportunities to personalize their drawing. Students will usually draw for 45-55 minutes and need to color for homework.

I am passionate about teaching appreciation of our world's cultures, societies, and people in a fun and engaging way that will spark a lifelong curiosity about our global community and a desire to be active and productive community members. I would like to work with learners from 6 to 18 years old. I have a degree in Sociology from UCLA, visited more than 30 countries, and lived/taught in five countries. I love to explore our global community from teas to art to traditional clothing.

Since 2005, I have taught English as a foreign language. I have taught in Asia, Central America, South America and North America. I have taught all age levels from young learners to middle school students to college students. For the past five years, I have been teaching English online to very young learners in China.

I believe learning should be fun, interactive and relevant to students' lives. Students should be inspired and encouraged to be active learners and full participants in developing their knowledge of the world.

On a personal note, I have two big dreams that I'm pursuing now. The first is to live in London for a year as a writer. Because of the Covid pandemic, I am not sure when this will happen. The second is to publish The Next Great American Novel. (I have a Master's degree in Nonfiction Writing from USC.)
