I am a certified chemistry teacher (grades 7-12) with over two decades of teaching experience. I have 7 years of experience in the high school classroom and have been teaching on Outschool since December 2018. I have also done private tutoring at the middle school, high school, and college level, taught freshman college chemistry recitations and labs, and worked in various science outreach settings including museums, middle school after school science programs, and science summer camps. From these experiences, I have worked with a lot of different types of learners at various stages of interest, ability, and motivation- from preschoolers wide-eyed at everything in science to high school students simply taking the class as a requirement to college freshmen chemistry majors passionate about the course with never-ending questions. I can tailor my teaching style to fit the learner, and I do what I can to make it approachable by anyone.
Homework Offered
Students will be expected to complete practice problems for each topic- the best way to master the topics presented in this course is practice!2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Student submission of work each week will enable me to see progress. Additionally, an assessment at the end of the course can be given if desired.Grades Offered
I can provide a grade for this course if required.
All course materials will be provided as pdf files created by the instructor. There are over 40 course videos totaling approximately 20 hours of video instruction. Handouts and class notes total over 100 pages of printable pdf files. Students will need a scientific or graphing calculator, a printout of a periodic table (pdf provided), something to write with, and paper to write on. Students may choose to print out notes and worksheets (recommended but not required)
