1-2 hours per week. All practice assignments are completely optional. Assignments are designed to help reinforce concepts presented in the class. Learners can submit assignments to receive feedback from the instructor. When needed, video feedback may be incorporated to give detailed explanations. Assignments can be submitted while the learner is completing the course to receive detailed feedback from me.Grading

Chemistry Concept courses focus on a single concept from chemistry, rather than the entire subject. These courses are great for students who need some extra support, missed some class time, who want a detailed concept review before an exam, or who are looking to supplement their learning! Learners have the freedom to move at their own pace, during times that work for them instead of trying to coordinate schedules with an instructor or tutor. 🧪This self-paced course is designed to help learners gain the skills that they need to complete conversions between masses and moles, between moles and particles, and between masses and particles. 🧪50 total minutes of sequential video lessons will walk learners through the setup of the conversions, and the execution of the math in a detailed and step-by-step format. Learners can play, pause, and go back when needed or replay/ revisit lectures for up to 1 year. Learners can choose which way they want to view the content: 1. Learners can watch the recorded lessons straight from the Outschool platform 2. Learners can download the lessons so that they can access them when offline if they are traveling or in areas with limited connectivity 📝Each lesson comes paired with an optional assignment that learners can choose to complete. Learners may submit their completed assignments to me and will receive detailed feedback or video explanations when appropriate. 📖Learners will also be given a set of fill-in-the-blank notes to complete while watching each lesson. This helps them engage with the content and boosts information retention. They can download the PDFs of the notes to complete on a tablet or print on paper. What sets this course apart from just watching YouTube videos of the concept? Actual feedback and support from a real science teacher! Learners can contact me throughout the course with questions, and they will receive either an emailed response or detailed video response as needed.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to select the correct conversion tools needed for mass, mole, and particle conversions, and how to use the tools correctly in the calculations.
Students will master the setup for 1 and 2-step mass, mole, and particle conversion calculations.
Syllabus
Curriculum
Follows Teacher-Created Curriculum4 Lessons
over 2 WeeksLesson 1:
Setting Up Conversion Equations and Conversion Tools
This lesson explains how to setup a conversion equation and how the algebra works when completing the equation.
Learners will also review molar mass and Avogadro's number, which are the conversion tools needed to complete these calculations.
1 assignment
13 mins of video lessons
Lesson 2:
Converting with Masses and Moles
The second lesson shows learners how to complete mole to mass conversions, as well as mass to mole conversions. Multiple examples are given and worked out step-by-step with detailed explanations.
1 assignment
12 mins of video lessons
Lesson 3:
Converting with Moles and Particles
The third lesson shows learners how to complete mole to particle conversions, as well as particle to mole conversions. The same step-by-step and detailed approach from lesson two is used to explain this concept.
1 assignment
10 mins of video lessons
Lesson 4:
Converting with Masses, Moles, and Particles
The last lesson helps learners apply their knowledge from the past lessons and learn how to setup equations that convert from masses to moles to particles, or from particles to moles to masses. Learners are guided through these two-step conversions and shown multiple ways to complete these calculations.
1 assignment
15 mins of video lessons

Supply List
Learners should come prepared for each lesson with a way to complete the fill-in-the blank notes. This can either be on paper, or virtually via a tablet and a free app such as Notability. Assignments can be completed via a tablet or they can be printed, filled in, and then learners can take photos of the completed assignment, compile them as a PDF, and upload them to the classroom.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Master's Degree in Science from California State University, Long Beach
Bachelor's Degree in Science from California State University, Long Beach
Prior to teaching online, I taught general high school chemistry in the classroom for several years. I also have tutored chemistry for over a decade and have a thorough understanding of the concepts.
My own science education also involved completing multiple chemistry courses, and my master's thesis involved the practical applications of chemistry concepts.
