The Weirdest Things Animals Do- And Why! Part 3
Chemistry: Atomic Structure
Students will be taught the basic structure of an atom and infer how to write the electronic configuration of a given element.
Students will be taught that atoms consist of a nucleus containing protons and neutrons, surrounded by electrons in shells. They will learn about the three subatomic particles and their respective charge and that the number of subatomic particles in an atom can be calculated from the atom's atomic number and mass number. We will then determine how the number of electrons correlate with the electronic configuration and how to draw the atomic model for an element. Power point slides will be...
1. To describe the basic structure of an atom. 2. To calculate the subatomic particles in an atom. 3. To draw the atomic model for a given element. 4. To determine the electronic configuration of different atoms.
