US Grade 2 - 4
Beginner Level
Have you ever been required to entertain someone or speak to a crowed and keep them interested? This class will focus on how we can use our speaking skills to entertain others. The class is structured to begin with a short introduction to public speaking skills and an introduction to speaking for entertainment. We will discuss times where this skill may be needed and careers that require speaking to entertain. Every student will have multiple opportunities to "Take the Floor" during our public speaking games. Students will have the chance to give impromptu speeches about informal topics and also practice formal speaking, such as giving an impromptu award acceptance speech and toast. Imagination is highly encouraged! While students take their turn speaking, other students and myself will be looking for positive feedback to provide. No background is required and homework is not given, but feel free to try these games out at home with family members or friends!

Please "bring" a shoe and a mug or cup for a couple of the activities during class. Students may also wish to have paper and a writing utensil available for jotting down ideas. :)
