Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Making strong and unique character choices is one of the most challenging aspects of acting. This week-long Characterization Camp is designed to provide students with the tools they need to effectively embody any character they encounter in their future performances, allowing them to bring entirely new dimensions to their characters.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THIS COURSE
Characterization Camp is a place for actors to focus on the physical aspects of characterization that often get ignored in acting classes. We will spend time exploring various techniques, including "mask" acting, the Laban method, and vocalization.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Because of the nature of this camp, students are encouraged to attend classes in a space they can move around in. Students are also encouraged to have a way to look at themselves (ie mirror, zoom camera, etc) for facial exercises
- Characterization Camp ends with a performance of short sides that will be assigned during the week. During this session, students have the opportunity to observe other performers, practice the characterization skills they've learned, and receive constructive feedback on their performances to guide their ongoing success.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I am currently attending college where I am majoring in Theater Education and minoring in English. I have been trained as a singer and actor for over a decade and want to share my passion for theater with students in ways that propel them to be better performers. When I'm not teaching or rehearsing for a show, I can be found playing games, reading, writing, performing music, and working on the podcast I cohost with my partner.
