In this Minecraft Summer Camp students will tackle a variety of challenges to see whose team can reign supreme. Each class students will collaborate on a Survival Mode challenge while competing to see which team can complete a given task. The winning team of each task will be able to choose a single advantage for the next task. The overall winning team of the first three challenges will also be given a single advantage of their choosing for the final class: PVP Capture the Flag. Each class will start with a 10 minute Challenge Overview. Players will be logged into the Realm, and able to see an example of what they will start the challenge with. The challenge themes will be: 1) Nether Apocalypse: The overworld is going to be destroyed, so we have to move to the Nether! Teams will have 1 in-game day to gather what they will need to survive in the Nether and complete the build tasks to win. The tick speed will be set for a full week to pass during class, so remember: the days aren't as long as you are used to. 2) Sky Dome: The Overwold had a volcano disaster and the only safe space is the Sky Dome! Similar to Skyblock, students will have to complete the build tasks using only the supplies provided while staying under the dome and off the ground. 3) Ender Dragon Safari: Build a rollercoaster through the End. What challenges will your team face? That would be telling! The Overview will cover what the rules of the challenge are and what a team has to do in order to win. Once the Overview is finished, students will be separated into two teams, with each team being placed in their own break out room. I will be logged in on a second device so that both rooms can talk to me as needed. Teams will be give 10 minutes to plan before the challenge will start. Students will have a set time within which to complete the challenge, and 5, 2, and 1 minute warnings given before the end is called and a winner determined. The first class will be dedicated to troubleshooting and getting everyone successfully logged into the realm. PLEASE SEE THE NOTES IN THE ADDITIONAL MATERIALS SECTION for tips on how to have a smooth first class. Once students are successfully logged in, they will be allowed to free-play in survival mode and socialize to help establish group dynamics for the rest of the camp.

Hello everyone! My name is Ally, and I really look forward to working with you.
I have been working as an online ESL teacher for two years now, and utterly adore it. My favorite part of teaching is guiding young learners through the learning process and getting to watch as the lightbulb turns on when a concept clicks. My current teaching background focuses largely on the English language, but my dearest loves are math and science. As such, I will be offering a variety of courses across all three topics.
While the core of my experience in teaching comes from my ESL work, I have a long background of tutoring and mentoring as a volunteer for churches and after-school programs. I also have over 10 years of experience in the corporate world, which is an invaluable guide when determining which skills my students should focus on developing.
I strongly believe that every child is capable of learning, and that it is the teacher's responsibility to make the material accessible to every student. I also firmly believe that the best way to learn is to have fun. Thus, my classes use a mixture of physical demonstrations, lectures and discussions to teach, and plenty of games and practical exercises to practice.
