Class experience
This class is an introduction to paychecks. It is designed to prepare a teen for his or her first job. We will talk about the ways workers are paid (hourly, salary, etc.) and what arrangements are typical for different entry-level jobs. We will learn the difference between gross and net earnings. We will study a sample pay stub and learn how to interpret the taxes and deductions that are often withheld. Class will begin with an opportunity to share about the students' jobs or employment...
This class is taught in English.
By the time your student completes this class, they will be able to interpret the major features of a typical paycheck and will understand how to calculate his or her earnings.
A piece of blank paper and a pencil is helpful for math calculations, if they wish to participate in that part of the lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
