Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

In this one-time class, your learner will engage in a history lesson about Juneteenth and bake delicious red velvet cookies in honor of Juneteenth. Your learner will be encouraged to share and engage with other learners in this class. My hope is to provide a warm and engaging classroom environment where all students feel welcomed. Any sensitive material will be presented in an age-appropriate matter.

At the end of this class, I would like for each learner to understand what Juneteeth is and why it is significant. The reason people feat something red when celebrating Juneteenth. Most importantly I would like for each learner to have fun!

I look forward to sharing history and baking with your learner, join me!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings, my name is Ms. Wells! My Outschool classes are designed for children ages 3-7 who enjoy learning through music, movement, and hands-on fun! I will be teaching classes centered around reading, science, history, math, and preschool skills. My goal is for my classes to be engaging, educational, and child-centered.

I have studied Early Childhood Education, and I taught Preschool and Kindergarten for 13 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Preschool and kindergarten-age children are my favorite to teach. I enjoy watching them learn and discover something new about the world. As a teacher, my goal is to help my students develop a passion for learning.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my children! We enjoy baking and cooking together, we truly enjoy experimenting with new recipes. My family and I also enjoy taking our daily walk, staying active is very important to me. I look forward to helping your student learn and grow!
