In this class we will work with the digraphs "bl, cl, fl, pl, gl, and sl" and short vowel sounds. Students will play a game to match and practice the digraphs. We will also review the short vowel sounds so that we can blend the digraphs and the short vowels. Students will also add a letter to the end of the blends to form and read words. We will use games, visual aids, and the whiteboard on the screen to practice the material in this class.Students will have opportunity to answer together and individually. We will do fun activities so that students can have fun learning. A knowledge of individual consonant sounds (b,c,f, g, p, s, l) and short vowel sounds will benefit the student.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the digraphs "bl, cl, gl, pl, sl, and fl"; have opportunity to practice blending these blends with short vowel sounds, and practice forming and reading CCVC words.

Supply List
It may be beneficial to have a whiteboard and marker that is easily seen or paper with a marker/crayon that can be easily seen. We will use the whiteboard on the screen, as well.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
