Welcome to finding your dream career! It is never too early to start thinking about a career, so let's jump in! As a Marketing/Career/Business Teacher since 1999, I have experience with many students and love hearing and teaching about career ideas. Here is what we will cover in our time together: Week 1 - Self Assessment - Welcome to class. Students will share about their interests and we will all complete an interest assessment, Skills Assessment, and Work Values Assessment. These assessments will identify the career and related aspects within the individual student's career interest choice. Week 2 - Learn about Careers - Students will learn about the different career clusters and career profiles, as well as talk about that career cluster/profile they fit into with their classmates. Each student will have time to share. Some of us may have the same career ideas! Week 3 - Workplace Skills Students will learn about soft skills in the workplace and we will look at the skills necessary to gain for a specific career. Students will demonstrate the use of soft skills in different roleplay scenarios Week 4- Changing Career ideas Don't Panic Week 5 - Interviewing for a Job Students will learn about what to do when applying and interviewing for a future job. Week 6 - Career Success Identify important tasks you might not have thought to do prior to starting your new job Create a plan that shows the career path you can take to get to your dream job Week 7 - CAREER PORTFOLIO PRESENTATION - Students will present their Career Portfolio Presentation. Use the following guidelines 1. Choose a job related to a career inventory or assessment. 2. Share about education requirements and skills needed in the chosen occupation. 3. Identify available training that support the selected occupation. 4. Summarize available jobs in their field. Week 8 - Summary Class and Review Game!
