Class Experience

In this course, students will be engaged for 30 minutes on how to sound out words. Students should have a basic understanding of letters and their corresponding sounds before taking this class. The class will focus on "ap" family words and will include words such as cap, map, rap, etc. Students will practice the sound of the word family ending. Next, students will think of a beginning sound to add to the word family ending to create new words. As we are creating, students are encouraged to write new words. They will also practice by playing interactive games and listening to an -ap family song.

Learning Goals

Students will accurately decode "ap" family words and recognize the word pattern.

Welcome! I'm thrilled to be your teacher on this exciting educational journey.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K–5) and a Master’s degree in Reading & Literacy (K–12), along with certifications as both an Elementary Teacher and Reading Specialist. I have many years of teaching experience across preschool, elementary, and middle school settings; I’m passionate about helping students build strong academic foundations in a fun, engaging way.

My teaching approach is student-centered. I believe in motivating learners by tapping into their individual strengths and learning styles. I value open communication with both students and families to create a collaborative, supportive classroom environment.

Outside the classroom, I’ve had the joy of being a stay-at-home parent to our two sons. I love reading, playing games, sewing, doing puzzles, biking, gardening, and sharing laughs with my family, especially over our love of Star Wars!

I’m excited to get to know each student, spark a love for learning, and create meaningful, memorable experiences together.

Let’s learn, grow, and have fun along the way!
