While I do not believe in assigning letter grades, students will have their workbook to show proof of progress and as a record of their hard work. Parents can choose to assign a letter grade for their student based on their workbook (neatness, effort, etc.)Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
This class is designed to go above and beyond basic dog hobby interests. Students will learn the classification of dogs in the animal kingdom, compare and contrast modern dogs to wolves, discuss how genetic traits are passed between generations, learn common breeds, the climate of animal welfare and rescue, and so much more! My classes should never feel like a lecture. Class will be a discussion, use images to illustrate concepts as needed, and follow the workbook to keep everything organized. Students will have opportunities to read but never put on the spot or pressured. They can doodle and draw if they are unable to write or need a break from writing. All activities are optional and flexible! Please note: The workbook is made to span a wide age range. There will be some activities and pages that were created for a younger audience that will be skipped. Other pages that will be left for students to explore outside of class time if they wish include: life cycle, extensive anatomy, purebred registration, designer breeds, as well as art, music, and poetry prompts.
Learning Goals
Students will learn needed information to explore interests in future careers with canines.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Virginia Teaching Certificate in Science
Before I became a licensed science teacher, I spent ten years managing animal shelters in different capacities. I have always been called to work with children and have volunteered at girl scout camps, zoo camps and children's hospitals. As a teacher on Outschool I am committed to bringing visual and tangible content to the classroom. I believe teaching is more than just a lecture. My students learn best by seeing examples of concepts, and by breaking new content down into manageable pieces. I am always available for questions and support!
