Class Experience

Oh no! The candy factory is getting very hot! The candy and chocolate are starting to melt. Mean old Mr. Bigs locked us inside and we need to find our way out. The factory is huge and there are 5 different rooms that we need to escape from. If all of the goodies melt we will be swimming in a chocolate river, and floating on melted gumdrops. We must find our way out and save the candy factory!

Let's work together to escape the candy rooms and save the factory! We will be utilizing Nearpod to make this lesson interactive. I will encourage the students to use their critical thinking skills and work together. I will be there to support them through their obstacles and will give hints if needed. Teamwork is the key to unlocking all of the rooms in the candy factory. If you love candy, this escape room is for you!

Activities in this class include:
Unscrambling sight words
Rhyming with sentences
Subtraction with decimals
Rounding and ordering decimals
Opposites
Word problem
Virtual field trip

We will discuss the types of candy/chocolate that we enjoy snacking on if there is extra time in the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Suzanne. I am a wife, a mom of 2 kids, and I also have an adorable dog named Shea. During my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, gardening, doing art projects, and building furniture. I love to vacation with my family whenever my family and I have the chance to.

I graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I then went on to obtain my Master’s Degree in Literacy. My passion is to teach reading to children. I taught Kindergarten for 4 years before taking a break to raise my children. I have been teaching online ESL classes to students for a little over a year, which I enjoy very much. I love that it brought me back into a "classroom setting" where I was able to showcase my teaching skills. I truly enjoy teaching online so much that I have taught over 2000 classes since I began. My favorite parts of teaching is the rewarding feeling that I get watching my students learn to read and watching them "shine" when they feel accomplished learning something new.

My main focus on Outschool will be letter recognition, letter sounds, and sight word recognition. I will be using games in many of my lessons, to make learning in the online classroom fun and interactive. I have a full understanding that every child learns differently. I know this first hand through my own children, through my experiences while teaching, and also through my studies. Therefore, I will be using multiple techniques to teach so that I can help each child meet his or her full potential. Positive reinforcement is a must in my classroom. I will treat all students with respect and I expect the same of my students.

I can not wait to meet your child and foster their love of learning!
