1 hour per week. Each student will be expected to practice the letters we are working on between classes. This will help develop the fine motor skills needed for writing as well as help them improve their handwriting skills.Assessment
The students will be assessed informally based on the formation of the letters we are working on for the week.Class Experience
During this 8 lesson class, students will learn how to write each letter of the American English alphabet, both capital and lowercase. We will work on shape, size and spacing. We will then go on to use those letters in words. Each lesson will include a demonstration as well as time to practice. Students will be required to spend time between classes practicing what they have learned to help them form the letters correctly. The main focus of this class will be the mechanics of printing letters. Each student will be encouraged to submit their work for more individualized feedback regarding their handwriting in order to help them improve their writing. The class will follow the following format: Greetings Getting to know each other/Tell me one great thing about your week Demonstration of the letters we are working on Practice time Feedback time Revision time Students will be encouraged to talk about what went well with their writing. My teaching style is informal. I will do a demonstration of how to form each of the letters we are working on for the week. Then, I will ask students to share their work as they practice so that feedback can be given. Students will get to interact with me as well as with other students throughout the lesson. ***I do not cancel classes for low enrollments.
