Students will be encouraged to continue "creating" through various artist expression they prefer whether it is drawing, color, music, dance, song, etc. (thereby using and developing their right-brain skills). Students will learn by nurturing this side of themselves they can interact more freely with others because through their "art" they are expressing such as is used during "art therapy" sessions

Class Experience

Picture how a dark stormy sky with rushing fast winds and rain would make you feel especially if there was a wolf howling in the background while you were on your porch! Or how a sunny yellow sun while on the beach makes you feel instead. Can you picture how a soft blue is like when dipping your toes in the warm waters of a pool or lake, or does green make you think of lazy-swaying treetops while laying on the grass while watching the soft white puffy clouds go by? See how colors can change your mood? We'll explore this and more together in this class!

Students will go through relaxation techniques then be led on a short guided meditation where through visualization techniques using colors of the rainbow and they will use a color or colors to "play" with during the meditation. This technique is designed to strengthen the right brain synapses where creativity takes place.

Continued use after class establishes focused intent and encourages and develops brain-to-hand coordination which scientifically shows increases the ability of problem-solving skills with left-brain activities. Students will also create a color "masterpiece" of their own using their own crayons, markers, or pencils and paper. Coloring print outs are included in this class if the student would like to use them or, they can create their own.

A quiet place where your child can sit or lie and be undisturbed by noise is best which includes no radio, television, affectionate pets, phones, computers, iPad to distract. This class will be offered on a regular basis. Feel free to request "best times" for your child.

Learning Goals

Students can learn they can "choose" to color the world around them. If they feel scared they can now choose happy colors. If they are nervous, they can choose soft, soothing, relaxing colors to wear, or as a blankie, robe, shirts and more; even help to choose colors of their bedroom!
