Open to all levels. Join me to learn the basic common sentence patterns to make you become a Mandarin Chinese speaker in 12 units. I will use the learn, play and repeat method to help learners learn Mandarin in a fun way. Small class size.

Homework
1 hour per week. Learning a language is all about practice. Homework may be suggested to help the students to more quickly reach his/her goals. Learners are encouraged to practice at home 10 minutes a day.
Grading
We will practice what we have learned in class right away. Students' progress is available upon request.

Class Experience

It is not difficult to speak and pronounce Mandarin Chinese correctly.  Join me to learn the basic common patterns to make you become a Mandarin Chinese speaker in just 12 units and in a fun way.  You will be able to learn how to ask questions and how to respond.  Pronunciation is one of the key ingredients when learning a foreign language.  I will help you to correctly pronounce tones and provide a structured approach to learning Mandarin Chinese.  

Learning a foreign language is challenging but I will help you to reach your goal. Students are encouraged to ask questions in class.

We will cover 2 unit2 each week. 

Unit 1: Greetings (basic).  How to introduce yourself?  How to ask other people for their name.  How to say I am from xx and how to ask a person where they are from.  Learn how to say pronouns.  Learn how to say some country names.  Intonation practice.  Conversation practice. 

Unit 2: Greetings (how to say and when to say them).  I live in xx, how about you?  Me too.  How to ask where is your friend from? How to use the common words in the conversation? How to say your city's name in Mandarin? Has/have. Like/Don't like. Who is..? Sister/brother.

Unit 3: May I ask what this is? This is xxx. Learn how to say food/fruit.  Learn to place an order. Learn to ask for what you want.

Unit 4: What do you want to eat/drink? I want /don't want xxx.   He/she want/does not want xx. How to say basic family members name by relation. How to say food/drink in Mandarin. 

Unit 5: How to ask "Are you a student? Does your (family member) eat (food)? " and how to respond.  Are you from?  Do you eat/drink xx? Who is that person? How to say common occupation titles. How to ask if you are (job)?

Unit 6: Do you want to go to (city/country)? Do you like to eat/drink (food)? How to say common Chinese food/drinks?  Do you like to go to (xx)?

Unit 7: Tell dates, time (present, future and past).  When is your birthday? How old are you? What grade are you in?

Unit 8: How to ask how many/much and how to respond.

Unit 9: How to use are there/how tall... to ask questions and respond to questions. 

Unit 10: How to describe subject, people, songs…. and how to respond. 

Unit 11: How to ask questions with "you are/want xxx?" and how to respond. 

Unit 12 A & B: We will review sentences and vocabulary in Unit 12 A & B.  Vocabulary words are: adv, verb, classifier, pronoun, country, nationality, city names, country names, determiner, relative, number, time word, food/drinks, occupation, general terms, stationery, linking verbs, existential verbs, action verbs, adj/stative verbs, formulaic speech, function word, and names.  We will also use these vocabulary to make sentences.  Learners should review vocabulary/sentence from the previous units but should not worry if they forgot any words.
Learning Goals
There are 12 units to learn the Common Chinese Sentence Patterns.  Learners will learn common Mandarin Chinese Sentence patterns and use them to express themselves, ask questions, respond to questions, and practice intonation.  Learners have the opportunity to interact with each others and practice sentences in each lesson.

Parental Guidance
Learners can choose to use the websites listed under Resources outside of Outschool (all resources are approved by Outschools) or use the standard Outschool tools to provide feedbacks/assignment or practice after the lesson. Learners who choose to use Quizlet, Kahoot, YouTube and Flipgrid will need to have access to these resources. I recommend learners to use these resources to help them to help them to learn Mandarin.
